"Sometimes people come to us with the brief for an extension - but once we work through how they use the house, we establish they don't need more space - they just need to rearrange the rooms they already have." writes Hamilton.

The article discusses the traditional extension bolt on approach and how this can leave the previously hard working rooms, empty and forgotten. Instead The Vawdrey House looks at the ground floor as a whole and proposes options which would allow the client to utilise all the space in a manner that works to their lifestyle.
